Counselling in relationship with our body’s natural intelligence
In-Person Counselling in Warkworth and online wherever you are
Grounded in Psychosynthesis and Somatic Enquiry
What is Somatic Enquiry?
Somatic Enquiry is a body centered approach to talk therapy. Including the body and the messages it gives us as a guide. Through somatic guiding you safely connect to your body. This starts with becoming aware, learning and paying attention to the signals your body is sending you. For example, learning to notice when you have reached your emotional, physical or mental limits. In this way you learn to take care of your needs and boundaries in a new and fully embodied way.
Guiding clients in gentle movements and self-soothing as part of the counselling experience encourages the body-mind’s natural tendency towards balance and wellbeing. When given the opportunity, movement encourages moving out of stuck patterns of self-protection into a growing capacity for new ways of being.
At Somatic Therapy Space, this ‘conversation’ between the body and mind is nurtured as an essential resource to Counselling.
How? Using body based reflections , simple stretches and breathwork
What is Psychosynthesis?
Psychosynthesis was developed by Italian Founder Roberto Assagioli in the 1960s. His main idea is that we have the potential to access our own inner knowing and resilience. That this essence of who we are unites us with all of humanity. Psychosynthesis is all about finding your inner ‘true voice’ so that you can make loving choices that serve your essential beingness, instead of fear based decisions acting from defensive or protective parts.
How? Using centering, mindfulness practices and guided reflections.
What is Nervous System Regulation?
When we are stressed, patterns of self-protection take over that can adversely affect our ability to connect relationaly, to ourselves and to others.
As we develop tools for nervous system regulation, we can work with our nervous system and learn to recognize when we are needing self-care and re-assurance. Over time, developing a compassionate relationship with self, so that we may then feel safe and connected in the world.
Wellbeing can be developed through reconnecting mindfully to our ground of being; body, breath and heart.
By bringing into awareness and identifying your resources you support your mental healthyness.
What happens in a counselling session?
I support you to develop safe connections to your inner and outer world. Together we identify your resources and your boundaries in the context of your expressed needs.
Together, creating a safe container, to explore your growing edges, through compassionate body centered interventions and trauma informed counselling.
